It's official: Genesis Laval has opened its doors. And its lead executive, Cathy Laroche, did not hold back when it came to organizing the celebration.
She chose May 15 for the occasion, the very same evening the Montreal Canadiens were facing the powerful Buffalo Sabres in one of the games leading up to the Stanley Cup championship. Ms. Laroche and her partners therefore moved quickly through the official opening ceremony before keeping guests on site with a light buffet and the appropriate refreshments to watch the game on a giant screen.
The new Genesis Laval building, which since 2018 has gone from a boutique at Carrefour Laval to a small corner inside Hyundai Laval in Vimont, then to a facility in Mascouche before finally settling in Duvernay along Highway 440, spans 18,000 square feet and employs 32 people.
Naturally, it is part of Groupe Albi Le Géant and is managed by Vice-President Cathy Laroche, who has been working alongside group president Denis Leclerc for quite some time. Mr. Leclerc was of course present that Thursday evening and even helped host parts of the event during the game.
What was especially striking was that many guests had taken up the invitation's suggestion to attend the event wearing a Canadiens jersey. And, in a happy coincidence, Montreal won the game by a score of 6-3.
It was reception night at Genesis Laval on May 15.
The atmosphere was even more charged because it was also hockey night.
Part of the new service area was used as an exhibition space for the new Genesis vehicles.
