This is the time of year when several automotive organizations announce the vehicles they have identified as the most significant at the start of the year.

Accordingly, NACTOY (North American Car, Truck and Utility Vehicle of the Year), one of the most influential groups of automotive journalists in North America, revealed its selections just minutes before the official opening of the Detroit Auto Show.

According to NACTOY, the North American Truck of the Year is the Ford Maverick Lobo, edging out the Ram 2500 and 1500 Hemi. This also marks the sixth consecutive year that a Ford pickup has earned this distinction. In the utility vehicle category, NACTOY members selected the Hyundai Palisade, while in the passenger car category, the honour went to the Dodge Charger from global automaker Stellantis.
