CPCPA ANNUAL GENERAL MEETING
By Isabelle Havasy
At the end of April, The Auberge Godefroy in Bécancour hosted the 46th Annual General Meeting of the CPCPA. This annual meeting was an opportunity for members, delegates and observers to vote on major decisions related to the structure, direction and governance of the organization.
Among the topics addressed were the ratification of an amendment to the CPCPA’s general by-laws, the 2022 activity report and follow-up of the strategic plan, the results of qualification exams and the industry overview, the presentation of the provincial “Compétences VÉ” program, as well as the election of the new Board of Directors. Mr. Dany Caron (SNEG – CSD) becomes the Co-Chair for the union side while Mr. Marian Richard (AMTQ) is the Co-Chair for the employer side.
Mr. Jean Boulet, Minister of Labour and Member of Parliament for Trois-Rivières, took part in the AGM, seizing the opportunity to reiterate the importance of the CPCPA’s work and that of the parity committees of the automotive services industry in the application of the collective agreement decrees, praising their role in the workplace.
Two conferences were scheduled for the afternoon. Mr. Benoît Charrette elaborated on the state of the industry, market trends and skills required, while Mr. George Murray, Mr. Mathieu Dupuis, Ph. D, and Ms. Julie Hagan addressed the impacts of the digital and energy transition: how are others dealing with it and what could be the priorities of action in light of these challenges?
Once again, the CPCPA’s AGM was a key event during which many industry players had the privilege of working together on a common project: developing excellence and recognition of the workforce in the automotive services industry in Québec.
