CIRCUIT MONT-TREMBLANT — THE AUTUMN CLASSIC
By Piero Facchin
Once again this year, numerous participants and spectators gathered at Circuit Mont-Tremblant for the Autumn Classic, three days of racing on this picturesque circuit sculpted not far from the mountain and resort bearing the same name.
The atmosphere around the track is friendly, especially in the paddocks where you can admire the machines and chat with the drivers, who are often the owners of the cars.
This historic motorsport venue sees entries in several categories: G70/G90, Vintage/Historic, GT Challenge and Formula Libre.
And racing enthusiasts are often in for a nice surprise when some owners bring their cars; sometimes real racing cars, and sometimes restoration projects with a view to racing on this track.
There are normally three “classic” events: spring, summer and autumn. However, the summer event was cancelled due to poor air quality caused by the forest fires raging in the north of the province in July.
What’s more, the Nissan Sentra Cup Series Championship was decided in the last race, with Alexandre Fortin and Nicolas Barrette battling it out. As for Valérie Limoges, the 2022 season champion, although her chances of taking the championship were virtually nil, she still managed to win Saturday’s race in masterly fashion. With the championship still up for grabs, Sunday’s race concluded with Alexandre Fortin’s victory, making him the Nissan Sentra 2023 Cup champion.
