A NEW PARTS DISTRIBUTION CENTRE FOR MITSUBISHI IN MISSISSAUGA
by Éric Descarries
Japanese automaker Mitsubishi Motor Sales have just announced the opening of its expanded parts distribution centre in Mississauga, Ontario. In order to better support the growing number of dealerships, the site has been expanded to 164,000 square feet. As a result, all off-site parts warehousing will be consolidated in Mississauga.
The expansion was necessary due to the growing number of dealers, record sales and a continually updated vehicle line-up from Mitsubishi Motor Sales of Canada (MMSCAN).
Opened in early 2011, MMSCAN’s 97,000 sq. ft. parts distribution centre was able to support the network of around 80 dealers across Canada at the time. With this figure now having risen to 96 dealers across Canada, and a total of 21 years of new cars on the market or reviewed and upgraded, the parts distribution centre had become saturated, requiring inefficient off-site warehousing.
On Tuesday, October 3, Kenji Harada, President and CEO of MMSCAN, officially cut the ribbon on the adjacent 67,000 sq. ft. warehouse in Mississauga, which is now connected to the original by large openings in the walls.
