MICHELIN INVESTS $225 MILLION IN NOVA SCOTIA AND OTTAWA HELPS
By Éric Descarries
French tire manufacturer Michelin has announced a C$300 million investment in its Bridgewater, Nova Scotia plant to meet the changing demands of today’s market. Improvements include the production of tires specifically for electric vehicles, the adaptation of tire production for larger wheels for cars and light trucks, and the conversion of certain production units to electric power. Add to this an expansion of the main Bridgewater plant which will allow the hiring of 40 additional employees. The Pictou and Waterville plants will also benefit from this investment, with funding from Ottawa to the tune of $140 million (which will help hire a total of 70 people) and tax credits of $61.3 million per year for five years in capital investment tax credits.
