AIA Canada signs Global vehicle right to repair position statement
AIA Canada has joined auto care industry associations from Australia, Europe, the United States, Italy, Colombia, Mexico, Brazil, India, South Africa, Turkey and Chile in signing a new Global vehicle right to repair position statement. By signing the statement, AIA Canada lends its voice to the growing international right to repair movement.
You can read the full statement here.
The statement details the core beliefs and objectives of the right to repair movement, as well as an outline of best-practice principles for developing right to repair legislation that can be used and adapted in any jurisdiction around the world.
Securing Canadians’ right to repair their vehicles at the shop of their choice is essential to long term health of our industry and our members. Being able to draw on the support and experience of other countries, such as Australia and South Africa, both of which have successfully implemented automotive right to repair legislation, is another tool that AIA Canada can draw on while we advocate for similar legislation to benefit Canadians.
